About Ease Your JAM

This is a grassroots project in Kolkata that brings music lovers together for authentic, non-performative jamming. We create spaces where people reconnect with their love for music through guided, collaborative sessions - no pressure, no judgment. Rooted in local culture, built on inclusivity and led by musicians who care.

At Ease Your JAM, we believe music is not a skill, but a language – best learned through shared, guided improvisation.

Aranya Bandyopadhyay

Aranya Bandyopadhyay

Aranya is the operational lead of Ease Your JAM. His journey has been shaped by witnessing how honest collaboration transforms people - musically, emotionally and socially. For him, a successful jam isn’t just about how it sounds; it’s about how it feels for every single person in the room. He is the invisible thread holding each jam together - coordinating schedules, organizing sessions, ensuring safety and always keeping the participant experience at the heart of it all. What drives him is a belief that anyone, regardless of skill level, deserves a welcoming space to explore music.

Sougata

Sougata is the musical head of Ease Your JAM. A seasoned drummer and music educator and with 10+ years of experience teaching in music schools and leading jam circles, he brings a grounded, intuitive understanding of how people grow through sound. He mentors conductors, designs jam flows and creates an atmosphere where the sessions are less about performing and more about listening, responding and feeling the moment together. Whether guiding a nervous beginner or jamming with seasoned players, Sougata brings the same warmth, presence and respect to every session.

How Ease Your JAM started

The idea sparked during informal jam circles in Kolkata, where people of all skill levels gathered to explore music freely. Over time, Aranya and Sougata realized the value of guided, safe jam spaces. They officially started Ease Your JAM in 2025 to bring this experience to more people.

Why are our jams facilitated?

Conductors lead the musical journey of a session. They design warm-ups, guide improvisation and make sure every participant feels heard, not judged. It’s about creating a space where music becomes a shared language, not a competition.

Conductor Role

Our conductors are more than session leaders—they are musical guides, emotional anchors and creative facilitators. Their job is to make every jam feel safe, inclusive and inspiring for all participants, regardless of skill level.

Coordinator Role

Our coordinators are the silent anchors who keep the entire jam experience flowing—before, during, and after each session. They manage logistics, communication, and documentation so that the music can take center stage.

Participant Code of Conduct

Our jams are built on respect, inclusion, and shared joy. To ensure a positive space for all, we’ve created a simple Code of Conduct that all participants must follow—no judgment, no hierarchy, no disruption. Just music, connection, and mutual support.

Children in Our Jams

We welcome children in specific jam formats designed for them—with parental consent and safety-first protocols. Our goal is to make music accessible while ensuring every child feels supported, not overwhelmed.
